Each of the above email hosting options are slightly different.
Hostway Standard Mail is included across all Hostway's shared, and Managed Dedicated hosting accounts. It is built on the universal POP3/SMTP platform, with all administration occuring in SiteControl. You can choose to download your email via a traditional mail client such as MS Outlook™ or Thunderbird, or alternatively you can access your email via our web-based email view/administrator SiteMail™.
Exchange™ Email is intended for organisations that wish to benefit from the added functions and scalability that using Exchange and Outlook2003 together can provide. Exchange email is based on a proprietry system developed by Microsoft. One key difference is that email is strored centrally, so that it can be accessed from wherever, using a variety of devices/clients. See our Exchange™ section for further details.
The Intranet Starter Plan is effectively a 'combination' plan for smaller organisations wishing to try MS Exchange™ and MS SharePoint™ at the same time. Microsoft Exchange™ Server is currently the dominant product in the market for email and collaboration software. SharePoint™ Services is fast becoming the first choice in collaboration technology. Indeed, there is an increasing amount of crossover functionality between the two tools, both of which have as their goal to assist communiation, and collaboration within the enterprise.
How Do I Get It?
Hostway Shared Exchange™ exists both as a standalone email only solution in the form of our Exchange Mail plans, or as an alternative to Standard Email on any of our existing shared hosting plans.
Adding Exchange™ to your existing hosting plan incurs an extra monthly cost. Customers are reminded that Exchange effectively replaces Standard Email, thus the two cannot co-exist on the same domain, although a separate sub-domain using Exchange can be accomodated. Please contact out sales team for further details.
New customers can order either of the Exchange Mail plans simply by clicking 'order now' and completing our secure orderform.
Existing customers can opt to use Exchange™ instead of Standard (POP3) Email. However if you wish to replace your Standard Email service with Exchange you will need to contact our Sales Team to arrange this procedure.
Alternatively existing customers can order a separate Exchange Email plan (on a new domain, or sub-domain) by clicking 'order services' within SiteControl.
