Hostway have long-term experience in implementing Server load balancing solutions for a wide variety of clients. We offer a unique in-house solution based on Windows® technologies. This is tailored for clients with a limited budget, who are looking to grow their business without incurring large setup costs. We can also devise load balancing solutions on a bespoke basis for more complex projects using either software from Zeus or Foundry hardware

Zeus Technology

Hostway has experience in deploying Zeus software on behalf of clients. The software enables local balancing, global load balancing, content caching and traffic management.

The Zeus software offers a wide range of features and functionality which can be customised depending on your needs and your internet requirements.

Foundry Hardware

Hostway utilises high quality Foundry Load Balancers that present an innovative load balancing solution to clients of all sizes. Our hardware provides complete resiliency for e-commerce and content delivery platforms, as well as for large-scale enterprise projects that require it both within the solution (Server Load Balancing), and across distinct geographical installations (Global Server Load Balancing).

As part of our plans to offer enterprise customers the ability to truly globally load balance their web infrastructure, Hostway recently invested in twelve Foundry ServerIron 4G application delivery switches, with integrated DNSProxy and GSLB capabilities. Working with Foundry reseller, Metropolitan Networks, these switches were installed in a number of locations globally including the US, UK and South Korea.

Foundry’s ServerIron 4G switches provide critical security and ‘health checks’ for queries routed through DNS servers, highlighting any denial of service (DoS) attacks and providing a layer of security protection and resilience against virus and worm attacks.

Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB)

Given the international structure of the Hostway Group and our carrier-class Datacentres around the globe (including large facilities in London, Chicago, Vancouver, Austin, Tampa, Hannover, Frankfurt, Seoul & Sydney), we are able to offer globally load balanced solutions that offer scalability across national and international boundaries.
 

Typically clients take advantage of Hostway's international network in order to create a UK headquartered website, with a resilient failover site in a secondary country. These types of solution can be configured so that they allow related clients from different continents to access a specific regional site, where each has a failover solution based in another geographic location.

Global Server Load Balancing can also be employed in unison with our Enhanced Content Delivery Network as a highly effective way of ensuring resilient, high-speed access to websites and data for visitors wherever they happen to be in the world. Patented Edge Caching technology ensures visitors see 'pre-cached' pages that are served from the closest parts of the GSLB network.

Customers who use their websites as an essential tool for e-commerce also employ Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) as a means of avoiding any downtime or loss of revenue.
