Five Travel
A dedicated travel channel, Five travel explores the top holiday destinations around the world through a variety of travel experiences. Working as a 'foil' to the television shows, it was anticipated that some programmes would attract peak demand during relatively short spaces of time, and the virtualised environment Five have employed, means they can scale up very quickly where need arises. |

Design UK
Design UK are an independent digital agency based in London. A key product for them is their content management suite, Lava, aimed at marketing and business personnel, which is intuitive and easy to use. Moving to a virtual environment has meant not only great scalability for their clients' sites, but also major benefits in terms of redundancy and cost-effectiveness through improved server utilisation. |

BBC Castaway
Although the BBC estimated that a large number of viewers would log onto the website at the start of its lifecycle, it did not know how popular or busy the site would ultimately get. Consequently, Castaway’s “Remote Control” site was placed on Hostway's on-demand VMWare platform, allowing extra virtual servers to be added within minutes, enabling a seamless expansion in server capacity as and when required. |

Conjungo
The specialised online technology search portal Conjungo
chose to use two Hostway servers, which they then divided into four virtual machines: three web servers and one database server running Oracle.
Because Conjungo is hosted on virtual servers, it is easier to scale up the website and quickly add more virtual machines, rather than having to install everything onto a new physical server. |

National Quiz
National Quiz is using three load-balanced web servers and a database server on Hostway’s VMWare platform. Because the servers are virtualised, the solution can be scaled up or down quickly if needed. The hosting arrangements also include a test platform, so that if National Quiz needs to change their website or quiz downloading arrangements, the IT team can test it beforehand to iron out any potential problems before putting it in the public domain. |
