Software-as-a-Service revenue 'set to soar by 2015'
Businesses making improvements to their cloud services by using Software as a Service (SaaS) could be interested in the latest predictions from Gartner.
According to the technological research organisation, worldwide revenue for the remotely managed software is expected to reach $21.3 billion (£13 billion) by 2015.
The predictions emerged after the feature's delivery increased 20.7 per cent from 2010, generating returns of $12.1 billion (£7.8 billion) internationally.
Gartner's research vice president Tom Eid claimed the rise in popularity had occurred as a result of reduced security fears among businesses, as well as concerns about limited availability.
"Usage and vendors' on-demand ecosystems continue to evolve to provide additional business and technology services, more vertical-specific functionality and stronger communities of partners and buyers," he added.
According to ComputerWeekly.com, SaaS provides a number of benefits for businesses, including increased employee productivity and reduced IT costs.
In addition, the software could simplify previously complicated computer systems for companies.
