VMware reports 33% revenue growth for Q1
Virtualisation group VMware has reported year-on-year growth of 33 per cent as more companies look to use the technology.
Revenues at the company were $844 million (£512 million) in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same time in 2010, while international revenues also grew 40 per cent to $44 million.
Furthermore, license revenues for the first three months rose by 34 per cent with software maintenance and professional services also experiencing growth.
Pal Maritz, chief executive officer for VMware, said that the company is helping more companies adopt cloud hosting services.
"The quarter’s strong performance underscores the value that VMware is providing customers on their journey to cloud computing," he said.
"Customers continue to invest in our portfolio of virtualisation and cloud infrastructure solutions to remove complexity and enable IT as a Service."
VMware helps companies reduce costs by becoming more energy efficient, providing server consolidation services for firms.
