E-card websites received the biggest increase in visitor traffic from the UK between the months of November and December, new research has revealed.
According to comScore - which was shown to be most people's preferred online audience measurement service by a recent William Blair survey - approximately 4.55 million people visited these sites last month, an increase of 46 per cent on the previous 30 days.
Luxury goods, accessories and jewellery retailers experienced the second highest traffic growth, up 26 per cent to 4.09 million.
Other sectors with rising traffic were online dating (14 per cent), music retail (16 per cent) and computer hardware (14 per cent).
HMV was the fastest growing individual website, up 36 per cent, followed by Royal Mail (31 per cent), John Lewis (28 per cent) and Dixons (27 per cent).
Google websites remained the most popular on the internet, with 32.9 million visitors in total.
