IBM and Nortel have announced plans to work together on a new collaboration and social networking service.
The two firms announced the partnership at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today (February 16th).
IBM's LotusLive - which can be used by business customers to share files, conduct web conferences and other online events, e-mail and exchange other communication over the web - will be integrated with Norten's communications-as-a-service (CaaS) application, Transaction Broker.
The CaaS Transaction Broker will allow LotusLive to utilise Nortel's click-to-conference and click-to-call capabilities.
"Combining Nortel's capabilities with IBM's LotusLive services gives service providers a software-as-a-service business model and the ability to easily implement a revenue generating hosted communication solution," said Sean Poulley, vice-president of IBM's online collaboration services.
IBM's facility in Endicott, New York has a history spanning more than 100 years.
