OL&T migrates to Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Transportation provider Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (OL&T) is to convert its critical systems to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, it has been announced.
The firm, which provides logistics management for the process and chemicals industry, is to migrate its mission-critical technology platform from Unix and Windows-based hardware to a Red Hat Enterprise Linux system running on 33 multi-core Intel Xeon processor-based IBM xSeries servers.
Red Hat states that the transfer will allow OL&T to benefit from a number of key advantages, including reduced operating cost, improved scalability and other performance enhancements.
Brad Massey, director of IT support services for OL&T, said: "Red Hat Enterprise Linux is truly a rock-solid platform for us. Its reliability continues to impress us daily, and we increasingly think of Red Hat as a partner, not a vendor."
This comes after Red Hat last month achieved common criteria certification evaluation assurance level 2+ for its JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 4.3.
