Asia set to see fast-growing online shopping market, PwC report says
Online spending is set to be fastest-growing in Asia as the market in countries across the continent continues to develop, according to a recent report.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Economist Intelligence Unit predicted that ecommerce in China is expected to have the fastest growth in the area as access to the internet and bigger incomes merge to encourage more online spending.
Japan is thought to already have the most sophisticated online shopping system with Hong Kong lagging behind, the report says.
It comes as IMRG's director of information, Tina Spooner, recently said that the clothing industry is set for a boost through internet shopping over the coming year as more people search for bargains online.
The PwC report added that ecommerce spending is soaring in China with a third of its 420 million internet users now performing transactions over the internet.
Furthermore, it found that online spending increased by 60 per cent in the first six months of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009.
