Ecommerce sites could be helping consumers that are 'better connected'
Businesses could be increasingly installing ecommerce features to its website after a new report said that more than half of retailers agreed that shoppers are now highly-connected.
Motorola Solution's holiday study found that 55 per cent of retailers believe that customers are equipped with more information than their in-store workers, which could be because of information presented on an ecommerce site.
It added that retailers are not investing in technology to stay ahead of these shoppers and that it could be beginning to harm businesses' profits.
Frank Riso, senior director of retail solutions at Motorola Solutions, said that in-store workers are very much behind those looking to make purchases.
"Retailers have put their associates at a significant disadvantage to connected consumers with the majority citing that shoppers are better connected than their in-store associates," he said.
House of Fraser announced this week that it had a successful trading period over Christmas with its ecommerce site witnessing 120 per cent growth in trading online.
