Virtualisation could be on the rise as IT job vacancies increase

The number of businesses using cloud computing and virtualisation could be on the rise after a recruitment firm said that there are plenty of IT jobs available in the UK.

Richard Nott, director of cwjobs.co.uk, said that the country is an "IT hub of the world", but there is still a shortage of people with the right IT skills in the UK.

Research by e-Skills UK, published earlier this month, found that the IT and telecommunications industry is expected to grow at 2.19 per cent per annum over the next decade, suggesting more firms are investing in virtualisation.

Furthermore, it found that there will be a need for 110,000 new entrants in this time to keep up with demand.

Mr Nott agreed, adding that the skill levels for the UK needed to improve if companies are going to get the right people in the roles.

"I think already we are seeing increased demand this year; things haven't gone crazy but there is an increase on what there was last year, and I think that will continue to happen as we move forward," he said.
