Google could require a content delivery network (CDN) if it goes ahead and launches an unlimited movie subscription through YouTube.
A report published by the New York Post last week said that the firm could be looking to extend its video streaming to films, beginning with a new service in the UK, followed by the rest of Europe and the US.
The news provider added that Google may have set aside around $100 million (£61.6 million) to agree deals with studios as it looks to extend YouTube to feature other videos.
A source told The Post that plans to introduce the service are already underway.
"Google is going to be launching channels in Europe and will launch a subscription video-on-demand service," they said.
"They are going to spend $100 million on content."
Google acquired YouTube in October 2006, paying around $1.65 billion (£1.02 billion) for the video-sharing website, while keeping it operating independently.
