Different paths open to firms switching blog domain names
Small companies looking to change the domain names of their blogs have several different options open to them.
According to web business expert Alyssa Gregory, main choice depends on how much of a previous blog's content they wish to move across.
Writing on Sitepoint, she explained that the first option is to move over everything from an existing domain, as well as setting up URL redirection to ensure that all incoming traffic makes it to the new blog.
The second option is just to manually choose what content to move over and to re-upload this at the new domain once it is established.
"This option takes just a handful of your posts and content and requires a somewhat manual move to your new domain," Ms Gregory explained.
"This is an option if you don’t have thousands of posts you want to move over, you are taking a somewhat new approach on your new blog, and/or you intend to keep your old blog up, at least for a little while."
Lastly, small firms can choose to just start over with a new blog and not worry about moving over any content.
