Large numbers of businesses will be using mobile marketing to help further their brand in 2011, according to a new survey.
The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) found that 75 per cent of firms asked will be increasing their spending on using mobile technology to advertise this year, compared to 59 per cent in 2010.
Furthermore, figures show that 62 per cent of marketers used mobile marketing in 2010 as companies look for ways to generate more customer interest.
Bob Liodice, president and chief executive officer of ANA, said that the increase in mobile marketing could see new innovations.
"Mobile is clearly a fast-growing platform for marketers, but it has yet to attain its full potential," he said.
"With the anticipated increase in adoption this year, we expect to see fresh, innovative approaches, increased brand-building success, and better accountability for this exciting channel."
Last month Informa Telecoms & Media predicted that text message revenues could hit £85.79 billion by 2015 as companies use SMS to target customers.
