IBM introduces new technology to improve cloud hosting services
IBM has introduced new technology to help improve its cloud hosting services, including a new program that will help quicken is virtual machines.
The firm unveiled four new software products at a Pulse 2011 service management event earlier this week and it believes companies will be able to make better use of cloud computing when the updates are fully implemented.
Speaking to v3.co.uk, Dennis Quan, director of IBM's Tivoli China Development Labs, said that it could mean firms "relinquish the resources when they're not using them" as they know it will not take long to get them back again.
He added that virtual machines (Vms) will be a lot quicker through his company's new technology.
"We're able to get VMs provisioned in a number of seconds now," he told the news provider.
"Even when you up the number of VMs you're provisioning, you still get the time benefits."
Last month, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors said that property companies will be turning to cloud computing in the future as it gives cost benefits.
