Cloud services will be a 'transformational force' in European software market in 2011
Cloud services will become even more widely adopted this year, according to a new report which says that it will be a "transformational force" in the European software market.
The International Data Corporation has released ten cloud predictions for the European software market this year, including that software vendors will be increasing their efforts to become cloud players in Europe.
Furthermore, the organisation forecasts that cloud security will "break down more barriers than expected" as companies become more confident in adopting the technology.
David Bradshaw, research managers of European SaaS and cloud services at IDC, said that cloud hosting has moved from "being on the periphery" of buyers and vendors to being a "core issue".
He added: "IT buyers are looking for ways for cloud to increase agility while reducing cost, while many IT vendors, not least the software vendors, are scrambling to get their cloud offerings into the market before it is too late."
Yesterday (March 9th) it was revealed that Royal Mail will be introducing cloud computing to help reduce its costs.
