Canadian couple buy Kate Middleton domain name
A couple from Canada have made full use of the hype surrounding the upcoming royal wedding by purchasing a domain name relating to the bride.
With the help of a number of business partners, Greg Kureluk and wife Carole Lemire have bought www.katemiddleton.com for around $2,350 (£1,498) after coming across it on a domain registration site.
They will now use the domain name to create a Kate Middleton fan website, featuring wedding news, fashion tips, photographs and videos.
Mr Kurelak told the Vancouver Sun that they will use the domain name properly and will enjoy doing so too.
"Some guys like to go out and play pool and some guys like to play on the internet. We don't need the money. We're just doing it for a lark," he said.
"The intent is not to exploit. At the end of the day, it's going to be done in a very tasteful way, in a very respectful manner."
Earlier this month it was reported that domain names, such as theroyalwedding2011.co.uk, had been placed on sale as people try and drive traffic to royal-themed sites.
