Domino's Pizza announces strong ecommerce sales for Q1
Domino's Pizza's ecommerce website helped the company drive its sales in the first quarter of this year, with like-for-like sales at its stores being boosted by 4.2 per cent.
The firm revealed that its online site accounted for 39.3 per cent of its UK sales in the 13 weeks to March 27th, with total online sales up by 62.9 per cent to £41.3 million.
Additionally, the company increased its presence through social networking sites and now has 16,000 Facebook fans along with 5,000 Twitter followers.
Chris Moore, Domino's chief executive, said that he is "glad to be reporting a good performance in the UK" with difficult trading elsewhere.
“The overall group numbers were, however, held back by the very difficult trading environment in the Republic of Ireland which contributes 7.4 per cent of our system sales," he said.
"However, as a company we are rarely satisfied with just a good performance and we have some exciting new products and marketing initiatives lined up to lead the charge for the rest of the year."
Domino's employs around 145,000 people across the world and is the second-largest pizza company in the US.
