Small and medium-sized businesses are becoming better at using Facebook and it is being more widely accepted in the community.
That is according to Spencer Parker, group product manager of web, data and email content security firm Websense, who said that having instinctively blocked websites such as LinkedIn and Twitter, companies are now using them to their advantage.
Furthermore, he added that though it is still not "wholly accepted" across all businesses, more are seeing the benefits of spreading the word about their products.
Mr Parker was speaking at Infosecurity Europe, an event for information security professionals who are showcasing new products and solutions to help visitors with their internet security.
He told visitors that there is a changing culture on social media.
"In this day and age the vast majority of businesses have their own Facebook page, for a start, and they want to allow their users to get access to that page," he said.
"They may be using it for brand awareness as well as their own internal usage as well. So Facebook is becoming accepted within the business community now."
