Domain name rules could change as Kenya hosts international conference
Domain name hosting rules could change in the coming months as Kenya gets ready to host an international internet conference.
The Internet Governance Forum, to take place in Nairobi this September, will see industry experts discuss intellectual property rights, use of social networking and security.
Furthermore, it will look at the licensing of the new domain name suffix .xxx which is set to be introduced in the near future, reports standardmedia.co.ke.
Bitange Ndemo, from Kenya's ministry of information, told the news provider that there have been several "edgy issues" in regards to public policy making.
He added: "For Kenya, the explosion of the internet and use of mobile phones has opened up new horizons and connected the country to the world as people find it relatively easy to communicate with friends and kin in different parts of the globe."
The event comes as Nominet, the UK's registry for domain names, looks set to use higher levels of security settings.
