Microsoft announces quarterly revenue increases of 13%
Microsoft has announced a rise in quarterly revenues for the three months to the end of March as the company's Office application proved particularly popular.
The firm revealed that its third-quarter revenues hit $16.43 billion (£9.95 billion), an increase of 13 per cent on the same point last year.
Furthermore, its Business Division revenue also increased by 21 per cent against the year as Office 2010, which integrates with a number of other products including SharePoint, Exchange and Lync, was widely adopted across the world.
Kevin Turner, chief operating officer at Microsoft, said that cloud hosting services will also help boost its products in the future.
"Office had another huge quarter, again exceeding everyone's expectations, and the addition of Office 365 will make our cloud productivity solutions even more compelling," he said.
"We continue to see strong adoption of our cloud-based services among the Fortune 500."
Mr Turner told zdnetasia.com last month that the pace of change in cloud hosting is "astounding" as it becomes more widely used.
