Small businesses could look at increasing their use of anti-spam and anti-virus software after a security expert said that malware use and hacking attacks are "certainly on the rise".
Richard Moffitt, consultant systems engineer at Trusteer, said that companies are becoming more speedy with their response to malware problems, adding that it is great that there is more awareness now.
Furthermore, he explained that in regards to new strains of viruses, it is very important "to stop this problem as soon as possible".
His comments come after CSIS said that a source code for the ZeuS banking Trojan virus is now freely available to anyone online.
Mr Moffitt added that it could take several days or weeks to for viruses to be detected, advising that businesses need to work hard to nip them in the bud.
"Any method that's available, you'll find them trying to exploit users as quickly as possible," he said.
"It's really a matter of identifying malware quickly, because it's all about time. In a number of hours, once an exploit is released, people will be working to take advantage of that and distribute malware and commit fraud."
