Businesses looking at widening cloud hosting service use, report finds
Cloud hosting services look likely to be more widely used in the coming year after a new survey revealed that the majority of companies will increase their investment in the technology.
Easynet Global Services found that 49 per cent of chief information officers (CIOs) will be looking to use hosted services and other cloud applications as they try and reduce their outgoings.
Moreover, 43 per cent said that they would have to upgrade their network to ensure that it could cope with using cloud computing
Justin Fielder, chief technology officer of Easynet, explained that CIOs should consider "the entire scenario" to ensure that they get the most out of the technology.
"Just as retailers know that their ability to fulfil orders from the warehouse to the customer is crucial to their success, so CIOs must realise that the ability to deliver to end-users is a vital element of any cloud strategy," he said.
A similar report by IBM earlier this month showed that around two-thirds of companies will be looking to introduce cloud services over the next five years.
