SMBs increasing their adoption of cloud hosting services in Australia, report says
Australia's small and medium-sized businesses are increasing their adoption of cloud hosting services, according to a new survey.
Frost & Sullivan found that 43 per cent of companies are using cloud services in some form in the country with another 41 per cent of IT decision makers saying that cloud will be a top priority in the current fiscal year.
Furthermore, cost savings and increased business agility were among the key reasons as to why companies are turning to cloud computing.
Arun Chandrasekaran, research director ICT Practice, Frost & Sullivan, believes there has been a "significant increase in the use of cloud services".
"While a formal 'cloud first' policy does not exist yet in most enterprises, the idea of a 'cloud alternative' evaluation is increasingly common," he said.
"We expect to see a number of trial deployments this year as companies dip their toes in the water and test non-mission critical applications and infrastructure."
Cloud hosting services could also be used in the UK after the government announced new targets for carbon reductions.
