South Korea aims to be leader in cloud hosting services by 2015, report says
Cloud hosting services look likely to develop in South Korea after the government said that it hopes to be a leader in the technology field by 2015.
The public sector could be the first to benefit from using the cost-saving technology as the country looks to take an active role in the cloud computing sector.
According to bernama.com, South Korea has set aside 15.1 billion won (£8.5 million) to support research and development before it invests even more ahead of 2015.
The news provider quotes the government as saying that it will make sure around 15 per cent of its entire computer systems are using cloud hosting in the next five years.
It added: "Seoul will move to change administrative rules and laws and support technologies to make the system safe to use.
"Seoul plans to take full advantage of its string information technology infrastructure so it can compete in the top clouding field."
Royal Mail Group said last week (May 6th) that it will be using cloud service to reduce costs and become more efficient.
