SEO efforts should be focussed on one domain name, report says
Companies looking to boost the search engine optimisation (SEO) of their website should put all of their efforts into one domain name and not several.
That is according to an article on Business Insider, which looks at five SEO strategies for small and medium-sized businesses to avoid.
It advises firms to avoid targeting keywords that competitors already are as businesses cannot "pick up someone's SEO strategy" much like they cannot copy an entire marketing plan.
Furthermore, the article added that websites should build links across the whole website and not just the homepage, in addition to sticking to one domain name.
"As a small business owner, you're typically going to be better served keeping all of your SEO efforts onto one domain," it said.
"If you're creating an event, a training seminar or some type of course, you don't need to create another site to showcase those efforts."
More businesses may be looking at introducing websites after domain name registration numbers for .co addresses passed one million earlier this year.
