Cloud services will be through all devices as expert says computer decline won't last
Cloud hosting services will still be available through computers in the future after an expert said tablets and smartphones will not replace personal computers.
Roddy McLean, marketing director at Crucial.com, a computer manufacturer, said that there will always be a need for computers.
He believes that smartphones and tablets will work with computers to serve the needs of British consumers.
His comments come after research from IHS iSuppli revealed that rising consumer interest in media tablets, like the Apple iPad, has led to shipments of desktops and notebooks declining in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2010.
Mr McLean added that all devices will be used in the future.
"Everyone is different and uses their computers in different ways, but tablets and smartphones won't replace our personal computers, but actually serve to complement them," he said.
"Most people with tablets and smartphones use their computer as the hub in their computer ecosystem - a place to store photos, videos, data, et cetera; there is a place for all devices to coexist."
