Microsoft tops list of unified communications vendors
Businesses contemplating making improvements to their cloud computing services could be interested in a recent study conducted by ABI Research.
Using its analytical tool the Vendor Matrix, the organisation revealed that Microsoft unified communications was the most popular feature adopted by companies.
The IT giant's dominance in the desktop applications sector was further highlighted through the development of software-based service Lync.
During the study, researchers measured the success of the vendors' channel ecosystems, technology partners and ability to allow users to experience the same advantages across different devices.
"[Microsoft] has the widest spectrum of partners for Lync and is expanding this ecosystem rapidly. It has an equally significant play both on the premises and in the cloud," remarked senior analyst Subha Rama.
According to Microsoft, unified communications can help businesses streamline their telephone systems and improve efficiency without the installation of large amounts of new equipment.
In addition, the service has been found to cut travel expenses for businesses with its promotion of hosted video conferencing.
