SMEs 'should adopt cloud services gradually'

Businesses contemplating adopting cloud services in a bid to streamline their IT services could be interested in new advice from an expert.

Andy Horn, general manager from Easynet Connect, has advised firms to "dip their toe" into the technology to discover whether it is suited to their needs.

His advice comes after the company revealed that 34 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) had no desire to move their applications to the cloud.

Of these firms, 20 per cent cited a lack of funding as the primary reason for their decision to maintain their use of traditional IT services.

For this reason, Mr Horn recommended the use of small trial projects, to establish whether the system meets their needs, before full adoption of the process.

"Enhanced customer relationship management tools, which can help companies to improve the level of service that they offer their customers, are available in the cloud on a pay-as-you-go basis," he added.
