Ecommerce businesses looking to improve the relationship between co-workers and customers, as well as improving overall consumer experience, could be interested in the latest move by Amazon.
According to Memeburn, the online retailer has announced plans to open a customer service centre in South Africa in a bid to provide a full range of support for the millions of shoppers using the popular website to purchase an array of items.
The project, which will be the second carried out by Amazon in the country, is set to be launched to compliment its South African Development Centre, which carries out work on the company's Elastic Cloud Computing programme.
James Greenfield, the head of the Development Centre, claimed the success of the institute had assisted in bringing the customer service centre to the country.
He stated that the service provides "developers with complete control of their computing resources and lets them run on Amazon's proven computing environment".
The decision to move the centre to Cape Town was made due to a number of contributing factors, including the city's location in terms of climate and time zones, as well as the friendly nature of its inhabitants.
Amazon's senior vice president of operations and customer services Marc Onetto said: "The fundamental culture of this company is customer-centric. When we offer customer services let's make it from people who are nice, we found that in South Africa."
In addition, Mr Onetto suggested that the recent announcement could signal an increase in activity in South Africa after halting shipments to the country in the past as a result of the country's unpredictable customs officials and postal service.
Earlier this month, the company unveiled intentions to introduce its AmazonLocal services for residents of New York, during which they are able to enjoy savings of up to 50 per cent at a range of restaurants, spas and local events.
