Businesses looking to use cloud hosting services to promote greater functionality in the office could be interested in a recent announcement from OnLive.
The cloud gaming company yesterday (August 11th) unveiled the launch of its instant-play video game feature for UK users, with free online membership.
Set to be launched on September 22nd at the opening of the 2011 Eurogamer Expo London, the service is set to provide instantly available activities through most broadband internet connections across the country.
Marking the launch, OnLive founder and chief executive Steve Perlman claimed that the innovative service would "utterly transform gaming in the UK".
He highlighted a number of benefits associated with the on-demand feature, including the removal of the need for specialised hardware, compact discs and time consuming downloads.
Using the feature, avid gamers will be given access to over 100 games instantly across a range of media platforms, including HDTV, PC and Mac, as well as iPad and Android tablets.
Consumers will also be able to benefit from the free try-before-you-buy demonstration feature offered as part of the cloud hosted service, ensuring they only play games that are suited to their taste.
By signing up on the gaming company's official website, UK members will have access to the growing OnLive PlayPack Bundle, which includes a number of well-known titles including Homefront Large-Scale Warfare Multiplayer, Lego Batman and F.E.A.R 3.
Mr Perlman also revealed that the high-performance gaming platform was set to be as accessible as streaming video, "with unique social features such as massive spectating with voice chat and Facebook integration".
Last month, OnLive announced a partnership with Juniper, in which the company would be the exclusive network provider for its gaming network infrastructure.
As part of the deal, the two firms are set to develop new cloud-based services in a bid to provide interactive features to be used across a number of media platforms.
