Individuals and businesses hoping to protect themselves from the ongoing threat of cybercrime could benefit from the launch of a new product that can prevent security threats affecting those using multiple devices.
Online security company Norton has announced the launch of Norton One, a new personalised service that aims to protect internet users who utilise a number of computers by giving them the opportunity to select a combination of solutions that appeal to them.
The product, which is expected to be available during the first half of 2012, aims to remove the hassle and worry of security for computer users while ensuring they are still able to enjoy the connected household.
Janice Chaffin, group president of consumer business unit at Symantec, said: "Norton One is a one-of-a-kind, new model that will address the security and service challenges that consumers face today."
Using a single membership, the new product is able to protect each connected device in the household using a single interface. This means that families will be able to pick and choose the support options they require to ensure they are not under threat from cybercrime.
In addition, users who purchase new gadgets - such as personal computers, Macs or smartphones, are able to add the membership in a bid to quickly protect the device from online threats.
"Norton continues to expand our business with our Norton Everywhere initiative, delivering solutions that are focused on the individual, wherever they go and regardless of the device they're using," Ms Chaffin added.
News of the product launch emerges after market research conducted by the security company revealed that US consumers own an average of 4.5 communication devices in their households, which are in substantial need of protection.
Earlier this month, the company revealed that cybercrime in the UK costs approximately £474 million annually, with 19 people falling victim to illegal activity every minute.
