Communications applications businesses set to adopt cloud services
Increasing numbers of communications application businesses continue to adopt hosted cloud services, with a further surge in popularity expected in the coming years.
A new study published by ABI Research predicts that 41 per cent of firms in the rapidly evolving industry will have access to the virtual infrastructure by 2016.
The findings suggested that the high popularity of hosted cloud services among businesses in all sectors could signal trouble for the customer-premises equipment market.
Dan Shey, practice director at ABI Research, revealed that the ongoing popularity of the advanced technology emerged following the requirement for remote working opportunities.
"Cloud applications ease application delivery for businesses that are increasingly relying on access across fixed and mobile endpoints," he explained.
Earlier this week, ABI Research reported a significant rise in the revenue earned by Chinese and Taiwanese vendors in the mobile market in Asia during 2010.
The findings revealed that 20 per cent of sales were carried out by businesses in this area, with three-quarters to shipments to revenue sales allowing local firms to increase their market share.
