Ecommerce company Amazon has today (October 31st) announced an expansion to its video streaming service, which will allow members to view a broader selection of content as a result of a new agreement with Disney-ABC Television Group.
The move will allow individuals looking to watch on-demand video content on the internet to view programmes from ABC Studios, the Disney Channel, ABC Family and Marvel.
Brad Beale, director of video content acquisition for Amazon, said: "We are excited to add some of the very best content available from Disney-ABC to Prime instant video."
As a result of the deal, video streaming viewers will be able to watch prior seasons of current ABC hit series Grey's Anatomy, as well as all episodes of hugely popular action-adventure show Lost.
Additionally, children's favourite Phineas & Ferb and Marvel shows including Spider-Man, X-Men Evolution, Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers and Iron Man: Extremis will be included to keep young consumers entertained.
Groundbreaking ABC Family series The Secret Life of the American Teenager has also been made available to Amazon Prime members, who can access the video streaming service at any time and using a range of media platforms.
The selection of entertaining programmes is available to view on more than 300 different devices including the recently announced Kindle Fire, which has been specially created to give technology-savvy individuals access to movies, TV shows, music, magazines, applications, books and games.
"We're working hard to add even more selection for Kindle Fire customers and Prime members leading up to the holidays and expect to have nearly 13,000 titles available in Prime instant video by early next year," Mr Beale added.
Last week, the organisation announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2011, which revealed a 19 per cent increase to operating cash flow and a 44 per cent rise to net sales - highlighting the increasing popularity of internet shopping outlets.
