Ecommerce popularity continues to grow
New research carried out by internet service provider (ISP) TalkTalk has highlighted the growing popularity of ecommerce among consumers in the UK.
According to results from the new study, 96 per cent of people make at least one online purchase per year, which the company highlighted as a significant stepping stone for the validity of online transactions.
Additionally, the ISP revealed 86 per cent of people in broadband homes used internet banking once annually, with thirty per cent of life tasks now conducted online.
The way consumers spend their leisure time has also been transformed as a result of the internet, the survey revealed, with 38 per cent downloading one movie per year.
Last month, Rob Thurner - mobile consultant, trainer and speaker for the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing - urged ecommerce businesses not to ignore the popularity of smartphones when developing online marketing strategies.
"Brands really must make sure that their site renders well across a whole range of mobile devices, whether they're traditional handsets, smart phones or they're iPads or tablet devices," he said.
