Business managers 'believe security is stronger than in reality'
High numbers of managers wrongly believe that security on their IT systems is stronger than it actually is, a new study reported by McAfee has revealed.
The new report, carried out by independent analyst firm Gabriel Consulting Group, highlighted that 60 per cent of bosses thought their data was safer than in reality.
In addition, the shocking findings revealed that only 22 per cent of management respondents were aware of their true security preparedness regarding IT operations.
Key findings also found that more than 40 per cent of individuals felt their organisation's security measures failed to contend with the fast-paced development of threats.
Dan Olds, principal analyst at Gabriel Consulting Group, said: "Management needs to seek out the truth when it comes to IT security and data center management needs to be … honest when discussing the strengths and weaknesses of their security mechanisms."
Last month, McAfee released the results of an international study that revealed consumers owned around $37,000 (£24,046) in digital assets that they fail to protect.
