Government launches ecommerce scheme for small firms
Small businesses in the UK could be set to receive ecommerce training as part of a government scheme to increase exports, it has been revealed.
The Web Fuelled Business initiative invites the owners of small organisations to attend one-day seminars for free in 11 cities from January 2012.
Led by School for Startups and backed by Yell, the seminars will focus on ecommerce, search engine optimisation, online marketing and export finance training.
The scheme was developed as part of the government's Finance Fitness campaign to improve conditions for small and medium-sized businesses.
Business secretary Vince Cable told Your Business: "If we are going to hit our way out of this mess it has got to involve getting SMEs involved and that is where there is a fitness issue."
Training will also include the chance to learn about how to develop a business in the 21st century, as well as setting up ecommerce websites and taking advantage of the online marketplace.
