EU and US work together to reduce cyber attacks
Members of the European Union have teamed up with US officials to examine the possibilities of an international collaboration against the threat of cyber crime on security agency systems.
The Cyber Atlantic 2011 round-the-table meeting, which was held yesterday (November 3rd), saw participants determine the correct course of action to take during the event of a cyber-crisis, ZDNet UK reports.
Organised by the European Network and Information Security Agency (Enisa) and US Department of Homeland Security, the meeting saw attendees say what they would do in any one of two possible scenarios.
The participants found lines of communication between computer energy response teams, but correspondence with other areas of government required more thought.
"Exercises such as this help to ensure that we have the right processes and procedures in place to deal with such events," remarked a cabinet office spokesman.
This comes after foreign secretary William Hague suggested a more "joined-up" approach to combating cyber crime and called for nations to collaborate against the issue.
