Automatic updates for Internet Explorer to be carried out
Internet Explorer (IE) is to be automatically updated on Windows operating systems, it has been announced.
Microsoft has revealed that it intends to roll out upgrades to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, and provide users with the latest version of Explorer.
Ryan Gavin, writing for the official Windows blog, said: "IE is how millions of Windows customers connect to the web, so keeping that part of Windows updated at all times is critical to keeping them safe online."
He added that the safety benefit for customers is one of the main reasons why Windows and other operating systems are moving towards the norm of automatic upgrades.
Websites operate in a more reliable, risk-free and efficient way when run on the most up-to-date browser, Mr Gavin explained.
Mark Dempster, associate of the Centre for Cyber Security, recently suggested that the majority of firms could be unaware they have a problem with data protection and that some may fail to realise when data is lost or when operations have been compromised.
