Website domain name punter.com has been put on sale for the first time.
The name, commonly associated with sports such as rugby and football, is expected to become popular in the UK and US.
According to reports, the domain name has come at just the right time in line with the impending National Football League's Super Bowl in February.
Previously only available to a reserved number of sites, Punter.com has now been made available to the general public.
Domain expert Paul Wilson said: "Punter.com is one of those rare domain names. 'Punter' is short and memorable and easy to spell. It looks good and sounds good. Plus, it has the right extension."
He added that it could be turned into a brand due to its short and memorable nature.
There was recent controversy over the .xxx domain name, which has been designated to adult entertainment sites and went on sale earlier this month.
