The domain name AreaRugs.com has been purchased by a US company for $405,000 (£248,700).
According to the chief executive officer and president of AreaRugs.com Randy Ward, the aim is to make the location the "number one shopping destination online for area rugs", reports Domain Name News.
The website was set up to provide information for consumers so that they can learn more about the industry.
However, this is only a temporary measure because soon it will be turned into an ecommerce outlet.
A premium domain name can be an excellent investment for a company as it can help attract customers.
Kabir Bedi, senior web consultant at web design firm LeXolution IT Services, recently reminded companies in an article for DomainInformer that a domain name is a company's corporate name on the internet.
He said it is vital to building an online reputation so advised businesses to ensure they select it with care.
