Domain name renewal could lead to prizes for .uk users
Businesses with a .uk domain name could enjoy a series of thrilling prizes as part of a new initiative carried out by Proudly .uk, it has been revealed.
As part of the plans, companies that register or renew their website title will be entered into a draw offering a host of once in a lifetime opportunities.
The scheme is set to be carried out after figures from a domain name history report revealed that 80 per cent of internet users said they were more likely to visit a .uk website than .com when presented with a list of search results.
Lucky recipients, who must enter before November 28th, could enjoy two hospitality tickets to a Six Nations rugby match, the chance to attend the Wimbledon tennis tournament or a West End theatre performance.
According to the Financial Times, twelve single-letter domain names, including x.co.uk, were sold for an average of £39,000 each in an auction conducted by Nominet.
