Budgeting 'is vital for ecommerce site setup'
Small to medium-sized businesses looking to branch into the world of ecommerce should bear some simple budgeting components in mind before they make the move.
This is according to one expert from webtistic.co.uk, an internet marketing company, who suggested that money for separate components of a website such as logo, brand design, shopping cart software and creative assets should be well planned out.
Dave Bird, managing director of the website, said: "Don't restrict payment gateways and get the best online shopping cart software your budget allows, ensuring it suits your business."
He added that plans should be put in place for adequate internal infrastructure to support a potentially busy site and also for seasonal trends.
The expert, who has been involved in online marketing since 1998, also mentioned that businesses should thoroughly assess their competitors and their sites before embarking on their own.
Recent research from retail association IMRG suggested that shopping online on ecommerce sites will continue to thrive on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with a predicted £186.4 million in takings on the former.
