Ecommerce customers 'want ease of use and better security'
Almost one-third of ecommerce customers are unsure about the security measures used at online stores, according to a recent report.
A survey commissioned by Oracle and conducted by Foviance revealed that nearly two-thirds of UK consumers who shop on the internet would like to see greater security measures used online, reports DarkReading.com.
Des Powley, director of security for Oracle UK and Ireland, commented: "Organisations must remember that security is an emotive subject that understandably triggers very primitive instincts for consumers and citizens."
Indeed some 30 per cent said they would probably go to a competitor's site to pick up a product if the security at the online portal was better.
However, time was also found to be a top consideration among online shoppers, with 48 per cent saying the main reason they will abort a transaction is that it takes too long.
Despite this, many consumers like to shop on the internet because it enables them to enjoy a guilt free purchasing experience, according to Heat magazine style writer Bronagh Meere.
