Ecommerce news: Mobile payment users on increase
Online retailers have been advised to prepare for the next big thing for ecommerce after experts predicted significant increases in mobile payment users.
According to technology analysts at Juniper Research, 2.5 billion individuals will be using the near field communication by 2015.
The estimated 40 per cent increase is set to emerge as a result of users' ability to purchase train tickets and travel cards using their mobile phones.
In addition, the increasing popularity of smartphones - which allow the technology to be used as a digital ticket - could signal skyrocketing growth in upcoming years.
However, the organisation warned owners of the devices to treat the emerging advancements with caution due to a potential rise in the number of victims of fraud.
Juniper Research provides retailers with predictions about upcoming trends and growth opportunities involving technical advancements in the mobile telecoms sector.
In addition, the company offers analysis regarding handsets and devices, along with additional areas throughout the industry.
