Ecommerce shopping is greener than making a visit to the shops to make a purchase, according to one eco-friendly website.
Nigel Berman, the founder of nigelsecostore.com, said that rising fuel prices and are making delivery companies become more efficient and are therefore making online shopping a greener way of buying items.
However, he added that price is still a concern for people and that people are still preferring to save money instead of spending for carbon-friendly products.
His comments come after a survey by IMRG found that 64.2 per cent of people would prioritise carbon-friendly delivery of goods, but that three-quarters would not do so if it meant paying a premium of over £10 a year.
Mr Bernan added that the cost is more important than being green, for now.
"At the moment, yes, I think price is still the top concern of most shoppers - the focus of media attention for the last year or so has been about the economy, inflation and the 'squeezed middle', with unemployment growing and the cost of energy and fuel rising, everyone is concerned with value for money and saving - this is only natural," he said.
