Visits to ecommerce sites last Sunday (December 12th) increased on many websites, despite being a week after what experts believe to be the peak of online shopping.
That is according to figures released by Hitwise, which found that visits to amazon.com increased by 5.96 per cent last Sunday in comparison to the same day in the previous week.
Boden, Bench and French Connection also witnessed rises in visitor numbers, with the former experiencing a 180 per cent traffic increase because of a big email marketing campaign.
The research company added that overall online traffic to ecommerce websites slowed by 6.08 per cent between December 5th and 12th.
Robin Goad, the research director of Hitwise UK, said that delivery is the key to seeing an increase in online visits.
"This just goes to show that for some retailers that can either guarantee delivery closer to the Christmas Eve deadline, or have a network of retail chains from which online shoppers can reserve items, can benefit from traffic spikes post Cyber Sunday," he said.
Figures released by comScore show that online spending in the US grew by 11 per cent in the week ending December 10th.
