UK ecommerce websites look likely to benefit this Christmas after it was revealed that 40 per cent of shoppers will buy at least half of their Christmas shopping on the internet in 2010.
Research by Episerver found that a further 39 per cent of those asked say that they will be using online shopping baskets more this year than they did in 2009.
Additionally, 39 per cent of women said that they would shop around for a bargain online, using vouchers and discount codes to try and take some more money off of their purchases.
Neal Perry, the UK country manager of EPiServer, said that the survey's results show that ecommerce retailers must work hard for every sale.
"To convince these savvy shoppers to buy, retailers need to deliver an engaging and satisfying online experience, otherwise they’ll merely migrate to the competition," he said.
comScore released figures earlier this week showing that ecommerce spending in the US in the week to the end of December 10th rose by 11 per cent.
