Ecommerce websites see further boost as sales figures grow
Ecommerce websites saw a further boost last month after new figures published show that there was a 19 per cent increase during April, compared to the same month last year.
IMRG Capgemini's e-Retail Sales Index revealed that Brits spent around £5.2 billion through the internet across the April period, with bank holidays boosting alcohol sales.
Furthermore, the clothing sector saw an increase of 32 per cent - thought to be because of early warm temperatures.
Tina Spooner, director of information at IMRG, explained that these are "highly encouraging results".
"Instead of just impulsively rushing out to the shops as soon as the sun comes out to buy the appropriate wares, people are browsing online to get access to the widest possible choice and ensure that they secure the best deals in these tough economic times," she said.
Ecommerce could also become more widely used after an internet expert said that fibre optic broadband adoption is going to grow.
