E-commerce companies need to allow consumers to see their brand up close and become engaged with it in order to market themselves successfully online, an expert has said.
Thomas Herbert, Hostway's product manager, stated that the methods a firm needs to use to do this can vary depending on what market they are in, but advised that all businesses need to make consumers "excited about your brand".
"It's all about keeping your customers on your website. Is it engaging?" he asked.
Mr Herbert claimed that in the clothing sector, for example, many firms are moving towards having close-up shots of their products in order to allow online customers to get as near to them as they possibly can.
Online retail sales are set to increase by 39.9 per cent to £7 billion this Christmas compared to a two per cent rise experienced across the entire retail sector, according to Verdict Research.
